レモンサワー
Lemon Sour Cocktail
Ingredients:
1 lemon (skin washed)
1-2 shots of shochu
soda water
enough ice to fill a glass
Optional: 4-8 fresh mint leaves
Optional: 1 TBSP shot of simple syrup, sugar, or sweetener of choice
Juice half a lemon, pour lemon juice into a tall glass.
Slice the other half of the lemon, add them to the glass.
If you want a sweeter drink, add 1 tbsp sweetener of choice. Mix it well with the lemon juice so it dissolves.
Add mint to the glass. Gently spank the leaves in your hand first to release the oils.
Fill the glass with ice.
Add the shochu: one shot for regular, 2 shots for strong
Fill up the glass with soda water and gently stir to not destroy the fizz.
Squeeze one more slice of lemon and drop it in. Garnish with mint.
Use this sugary liquid to sweeten ice beverages, like coffees, homemade soda, or cocktails.
Simple Syrup Recipe
50/50 sugar to water ratio
(example: 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water)
Add the sugar and water together in a saucepan on the stove on medium heat.
Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Let it cool, then store it in a glass jar or container.
Keep in the fridge and prepare for sticky lids!
Martina’s Secret Tip
Once the sugar is dissolved, I kill the heat, and steep chai tea bags, lemon rinds, cinnamon sticks, and vanilla beans into individual batches of simple syrup to create lightly flavoured simple syrup.
I bought eye droppers for oil online, and use them to store my various simple syrups.
